Fun Thumbtacks

IMAG0032

When I inherited a collection of costume jewelry, I found that there were a number of earrings that were missing their mates.  I hated to just dispose of them.  With a little bit of thought, I realized I could use them as thumbtacks on bulletin boards so that I could continue to enjoy them.  What a great way to add a bit of elegance, fun, and whimsy to any bulletin board.

To add more of a crafting element, this idea would work well with any number of small trinkets.  We all have those little things that we really don’t know what to do with and yet we don’t want to part with them.  Simply hot glue or super glue them onto the head of a plain thumbtack.  Instead of them being tucked away in a box somewhere, now they can be displayed and enjoyed!

Senior Picture Mini Album

When my daughter graduated, I had to have a set of all her proofs.  In fact, we may have purchased two sets.  Her poses were fantastic and I loved them all.  Short of turning our house into a shrine, I needed to figure out a way to display them all.

And so I created a mini album featuring each photo on its own page.  I started with a 6 inch by 6 inch album.  Then I gathered up all the sparkly embellishments I had on hand to match her sparkly personality.  Finally, I created a list of words that could be used to describe her and printed them out on vellum in a pretty font.

Here are the results.

This year I have another senior with another whole set of proofs.  I guess I better get busy!
